This spider had (in 2 hours!) built a complete web nearly 3 feet across in front of our garage door. he was about 2 inches long. Then we squashed him. Nah, not really! Just moved him out the way after taking about 20 photos. This (after cropping but no other adjustment) is the best pic.

You must have got a bit close for comfort to get this! Great picture - he's horrid but I'm glad you didn't squash him.
(is the blue your garage door?)

Actually, I was about 4 feet away and it didn't move during twenty photos (thankfully!)

Yes, the blue is the garage door. I took a few against the dark sky, but he just over-exposed using the flash. I suspect I should have used a Neutral Density filter, but not really sure. Thanks for you comments :o)

Great image, nice exposure and good depth of field. I had a similar spider in the garden - he, too, didn't move much. I didn't think of using flash to get the small aperture, though.

Thanks Dave :o) The flash was absolutely essential it was about 10 o'clock at night! :o)
