Stonehenge By Sunset

By collinf
My first decent slide from the September Stonehenge visit. The trip was worthwhile after all!

Collin, that's wonderful! Amazing how different it looks from the medium format as opposed to 35mm. The pink in the sky is beautiful too. Most of mine had an orange sky behind the stones rather than the pink.

Thanks again all! My first Editor's Choice, I'm so proud :o)

Yes, I compared this to some of my 35mm shots. If I hadn't been there I would have thought they were taken on different occasions! Collin

Great shot but I think it would be improved if you removed about two thirds of the foreground. All the interest is above the horizon and all that black adds nothing.

I did wonder that when I was sorting the shot, but couldn't decide whether to or not. As you can see, I went with "not". I will, once I've scanned it again, have a play and lose lots more of the foreground. Thanks for your comment Loweskid, it's much appreciated. Collin

This is lovely. Well caught, Sir! A great one for the wall blown up, methinks?

An excellent image but the foreground is too intrusive and to my mind, unecessary. Well done on the EC

Agree with the others on the foreground -crop about a third from the bottom. Improves it in every respect.

Agreed about the foreground, but this is a stunning photo nonetheless. Wonderful colours and exposure, and just the right amount of detail left in the sky.

Col, what a great photo!... Having lived near Stonehenge in my youth, I've seen it in Many lights... you have really captured the feeling of the stones... And congratulations on the EC award!
