Was out and about on Southeastern Railway this afternoon, Mari was working and I thought maybe grab a few different style shots, and sure enough I did, some immediately binned some ok and a few grand ones that will be in the fullness of time uploaded to either EPZ or my own website. Now I know I am biased but ..... the sterling work the staff do to keep rolling stock rolling is amazing. Short of staff on one train, no problem a volunteer takes charge and it sets off 5 mins late, without that it would have been cancelled. The station staff constantly clearing the platforms and helping folks get the right train, the timetable completely changed as the snow and ice takes a strong grip.
As I write this at almost eleven pm, I am at home and in the warm, poor Mari is currently stuck in a train outside of Ashford International, and even if the train eventually can make it into the station, Kent Police have closed some of the major roads in the Ashford area, a blizzard struck and they it seems cannot cope.
I am hopeful that Mari will make it home at some point tonight, once power goes on the trains then the heating goes off too..... As they are only 5 min from Ashford International maybe a walk in the snow for her and her passengers, if nothing else at least she would be able to get into the warmth of her depot !
Till next time
