Contemplation

By colmar
Good Morning
Today two images of my grandson, this was taken the morning his little brother was born, and Joshua had no option but to witness it in the ambulance as we were all at work by the time we arrived at the hospital, it was all over.

He was his usual self but then after a while took himself off to the chair and looked out the window, I believe that the look I captured here shows that he realised his life had just changed and he was surely contemplating the future.

Thanks for all the votes and comment on our previous uploads all truly appreciated Col(in) and Mar(i)

At first look thought this was a great picture in itself Colin, then I read your write-up and it really brought it home, you've captured a wee laddie at a milestone in his life, and he's aware of it, maybe a wee bit frightened, looks like tears are not that far away, a stunning image to look back on in a few years I'm sure!

Good morning to you, Colin.

Yes, this is a lovely image of great sentimental value and one which will carry memories of a happy day for ever. Very nicely taken, and I prefer the coloured version to mono myself.
Ronnie.

(PS. I'm sure you'd find plenty of interest in Pollok C. Park if you're up in March - the one thing we can't promise is the weather, though)

A wonderful image. There will be so many conflicting thoughts racing through that youngster's mind having read your write-up. I do prefer V1, the coloured version but the details in mono become so much clearer and it is in itself a very fine image. Congratulations on the addition to your family!

Wow....that's a definite for the family album. The write up & photo show so much, story well and truely told. Love his body language and the reflected expression. Love the colour for the hope of fun to come and the mono for seeing all the details. Super shot.

Morning Colin !

Love this image - a moment in time well captured !
(I remember being 3 years and 2 weeks of age when my sister was born, and I can remember it as if it was yesterday - so I can tell exactly what that little chap is feeling/thinking).

Well done - Chris

the colour image is definite and clear, the mono though - for me - does not offer either as well. The figure caught in the reflection, standing behind, offers that sense of protective comfort. Works very well in conveying emotion without being overly directive

This really gets the message home of: "if a picture paints a thousand words" - superbly captured, and the mono version (in my humble opinion) is the more expressive of the two images.

I think the b&w works better, in that the detail in the reflection is stronger, there's a more equal balance between the two halves. But the colour is so delicate, fragile. Poignant, one to maybe show to both boys in ten years time.
