Sunset Blues

By conrad
I've wanted to combine my passions for windmills and sunsets for a long time, but I never seem to find the right combination at the right time. Here I was so frustrated about there being very little of the expected nice sunset, that I shot what little there was to see of it with only part of the windmill. And to my surprise it wasn't that bad of a shot. Now let's see what you all think...

Not bad at all Conrad! In fact it's lovely, like the silhouetted windmill against the lovely sunset, well done.

Like the composition. IMHO I would have cropped a lot of the bottom as the dark area is distracting. John

I like this. I would be tempted to crop at the bottom. Click

Lovely shot, Coenraad. I would also be tempted to crop a section from the bottom. Nice work Smile

Thanks for the comments so far, people. How ironic, though - after rotating the picture ccw at 90 degrees, I must not have noticed all the unnecessary dark mass that probably disappeared somewhere at the bottom of my screen, below the Windows bar or something. So I didn't notice the need to crop. And I'm one of the ones who are always telling people not to leave too much darkness in their pictures. Oh well, keeps me humble...

Good shot Conrad, but part of the bottom is ballast. It will look much better, when you cropp about 3 cm off.

Thanks, all. Yes, the comments about the dark patch at the bottom are perfectly justified. I won't be uploading an adapted version, though - I think anybody could easiliy imagine the difference it would make. I have only changed it for myself in the graphic file on the pc. Thanks for all the comments!
