I've been discovering of late that adding grunge effects to images can make simple and even quite dull-looking shots more interesting. But of course, like everything in life, you can overdo it. And the app I tried this time can easily drive one to use over the top effects, I found. But the way it does that is fun, and even somewhat addictive.
GrungeTastic either lets you take photos straight from the app, or load photos already made. And then the fun starts. You can add countless grunge effects, textures, frames, and there are several different ways in which you can tweak the strength of the effects.
But the button I really liked was the Randomizer. Hitting that time and time again shows you so many different ways you can make your picture look that you could use just that button for hours.
As I said, though, many effects are quite strong, even when you take several sliders more to the left to weaken the strength of the effect. As this image of the windmill in Afferden, the Netherlands, proves - it's hard to tell a photo was used as the basis of this image:
It was fun making this, and GrungeTastic is fun, especially the Randomizer.
But I still think I like Snapseed better. This one's staying in my collection, though, I'll still want to use it now and then, I think.
