The Things We Do

This week alone I've walked, hiked and climbed to photo locations. I've been rained on, had freak waves from a sea loch wash over me, got cold, muddy and wet - and got exhausted, of course.

Did I get any spectacular shots? No.

Am I happy with the photos that I sacrificed my comfort for? Happy enough, yes.

Did I enjoy myself? Absolutely!

Mostly I just enjoyed myself.

It's being in a spectacular landscape, and at the same time trying to capture it - at least as a memory, and at best as something you can print, or upload to the Web - that does it for me. And being in good company, let's not forget that. (We have a nice crowd here on ephotozine.)

But when we took off our wet and muddy gear today, there was a moment when I wondered why we did it all. Seeing all the shoes and boots drying in front of the fire made me think.

mmm

Not so sure that warming up the beer in front of the fire was a good idea Sad

Then again perhaps it was a slightly early Winter Warmer Wink

As a teetotaller, I really wouldn't know if that was a good idea or not, it wasn't my beer - it just happened to be there, and I shot the scene as it was. Nothing staged in this shot...

That's the only thing that counts in my book, getting a good picture from the day is a welcome bonus and adds to the memory of the enjoyment.
