Thank you so much to everyone who C&C'd my upload of a barn owl.

Today a photo of an egret in flight. This egret was a bit of a dirty chap, his feathers did not look pristine, as they usually do. Someone else who saw him pointed out to me that his bill is slightly mishapen at the top and he doesn't seem to be able to close it properly - I wonder if this has affected his ability to preen. In any case it hasn't affected his ability to feed himself or fly around, so that's the good news!

This is the first in flight photo of an egret that I've seen, they're usually just standing around posing and looking elegant.
Quite something.
He looks to be doing OK... hope you are too, Alex.

What a great image of an Egret in flight, well done Alex Smile
It isn't normal for them to fly with their beaks open, so your aquaintance may have a point.
But, as you say, he flies, fishes and feeds okay.
A really super capture.

Hmm...that's a good point about the link between his beak and his grubbiness! Very interesting.

Excellent in-flight shot you've got of him, Alex. I like how his wings look like one straight overhead wing of an airplane Smile

A tremendous inflight shot Alex, I think he must have some regrets as you caught him looking rather dishevelled, grubby and looking far from his best!WinkBlush
