Portland Bill Storm

By Lillian
Another from Portland Bill...on how to get wet!!

As suggested here is a Panoramic (did upload in V3 the advised Pano yesterday)
And yes, trying to learn seascapes/landscapes ... I am out of the league, but will try 'most' photographic challengesWink

This is so slow on site today!! wanted to show another view...maybe later?

again in the good company of Bob, Jenni and Bob With Val and Ruth on Saturday
Thanks everyone for comments and advice yesterday...very grateful

I do prefer yesterdays Lillian, you have burn out on some parts of sky and not sure if this can be recovered, the lighthouse is near the edge of the frame so composition is not balanced. swinging the camera around to your right would have put the lighthouse on the third, I do think rules are meant to be broken but not so much in landscapes.

Great image Lillian - excellent timing too.
I tend to agree with Trev in that placing the lighthouse on the third which would also place the huge wave on the first. Smile

I picked up on the same points as Trev, one of them, the sky would have been easily solved with the extra dynamic range of your 5D3 and the extra wide view of the full frame would have probably put the lighthouse in the right place too, the timing is spot on to catch the wave breaking on the rock.

You point out this is a little out of your comfort zone but how long before you master it, not long with your ability Lillian.

Thanks all,
Gary, this was the 60D not messing about in the rain with my 5DWinkWink
and the wide view is a quick..."another wave" and no time
as I said yesterday a fun /adrenalin day..and probably a one off experienceSmile

Looks like a fun day, Lillian, dodging the waves. I don't have any problem with the lighthouse there, it makes a good zig-zag diagonal with the coastline from the top right to bottom left. I've had a play and put a bit of light into the foreground, otherwise a fine coastal landscape... and I like those seagulls as well.

A good composition of the coast line - sure the lighthouse could be further in on thirds
but maybe what lies beyond wouldn't be picturesque - the wave echo the height of the lighthouse.

It must be the calm before the storm as the sea looks quite calm!
A fine shot with the lighthouse.
