The Eagle Has Landed

By brian1208
The skies became overcast and grey this afternoon at the Hawk Conservancy which made it difficult to get any memorable images but I thought the timing of this one + the detail made it acceptable. What do you reckon?

(I took the OMD EM5 but it struggled to get anything worthwhile from the flight sequences)

well captured, just such a shame about the sky and the fact that the Eagle's head blends into it... have to say i would cheat and put a better sky in, don't tell us we won't notice

otherwise, nice detail

have you tried negative exposure comp for sky and using flash to light the subject? (Obv in camera not post-proc)

Thanks Phil.

I may just try cheating this one (goes against long-held principles though Wink ).

Nope, I never use flash during a Birds of Prey display (another long held principle). I'm sure it would do the trick, maybe with the flash-extender on but it just doesn't feel right to do so

Great shot. Wouldn't like to be on the end of those's talons.
