I am sure your subject was so pleased with you uploading this one? I know my wife would be! Heheeee! On a serious note though, have a play with the White balance settings on your camera as you have a bad tungsten cast going on (red / yellow hues) and set the camera to indoors / tungsten light! Try using RAW as well (manual mode on the camera) as you can do so much more with it (like alter the white balance after the shot). Nice firsth try though. Hopefully we will see more from you. Photography is addictive!

Would you generally recommend using independent white balance settings (eg tungsten) over Auto WB (assuming you have time to alter the settings).

pretty good attempt at this sort of shot, the white balance would have helped getting the colours how they should be, G
