Carn means cairn or rock pile and refers to both man-made and natural features. Dearg is one of the Gaelic terms for the colour red and Beag means small/little. Gaelic speaking peoples named hills by their colours and distinctive features giving the very descriptive names found on maps today.
A day later there was a light dusting of snow on these tops.
