AquaPen

By Coza
This is another of my splash shots. I filled a bowl to the brim and arranged three flash guns pointing directly at it. I used 1/1000 shutterspeed, and an aperture of f16. It took loads and loads of tries to get the right shape splash, and depth of field, but this one was one of my favourites. I know that my last splash is a familiar shape in these kinds of shots, but this one was quite unusual. I called it water pen becuase it looks like a pen with a water droplet balancing on the top. What di you think? Smile Comments appreciated.

I think you nailed it just perfectly with your flash and exposure. The DOF is pretty good too, but its the shape of that droplet/splash that takes the cake.

This is really good Coza, I've not tried any of these before, like the way the round drop appears to be balancing on a point.

Want to be inspired then check this out.

Introduced the colour to mine in one of two ways. Either use the WB set to flourescent to get blue. Or use a glass dish and put some coloured paper underneath.

There's a full explanation on one of mine here

HTH, but be aware they are addictive.

The colliding ones are "simply" a matter of getting one drop to hit the previous one as it rise back out of the water. I use a gravity feed system, but it isn't controllable enough. Need a fluid dynamics engineer as a best friend I think Smile)

Very nicely captured, excellent image.

Personally I'd crop the bottom 1/15th bit off to remove the dark ripple from the foreground.
