It's coming!

By Coza
I took this picture with my own 1 megpixel camera, which I got for Christmas! Let's admit it, it's not that far away! I asked my Dad what he thought of this pic, and he said, "It's a cracker!" My Dad's been told he's not excactly the funny type ... So what do you think? Of the pic, not the joke!

Just to update the pic:
This was taken 2 years ago, when I was just beginning to get into photography, so this is extremely basic. Don't judge the entire portfolio on this one image! But I do appreciate comments and constructive critism on any picture.

Great shot, I love the sharp focus at the front and blur as the craker gets further away. Very colourful. Well done. CLICK!

No pulling the wool over your dad's eyes, he got it spot on :o)

It is always difficult to know just where to focus on an item like this (or where the camera has focussed). Although I would have probably aimed for the middle of the cracker this shot works although I think it may have been stronger if you had cropped away the near end of the cracker (the curving gold line) which tends to pull the eye to the edge of the frame. Good work, I like it.

Like the idea of the long shot down the cracker and its a nice pic. In my humble opinion i agree with BrianM re. tighter crop on the right. I would have changed the background for more crackers vertical or a load of xmas colours and stuff. I also like the line that the cracker has created leading you into the picture. Hmmm i wonder, just turnuing things on their head, what a normally colourful xmas pic would look like in black and white. As long as it had strong lines and areas of contrasting shades.
got me thinking.
Nice work
