Just received Nikon 50mm f1.8
Agreed. For the money its a bargain. The only problem is it makes you realise how soft zooms can be :o( my 18-70mm lens pales when compared to the 50mm prime..... ... -

Yet another vote for the Sigma (and used on a D70). Very happy with it's performance (apart from the odd spates of focus hunting which can get annoying), and the macro is... -
