Another of the images of the Common Darter taken on Saturday, the background is the garden pond, a rather unfortunate shade of brown. We had the water in the pond nicely balanced until Barney (our chocolate lab) decided to go for a wade and pierced the liner, which has had to be replaced.

I did try using a tripod but found it impossible as these really live up to their name and zip about so much that hand held really was the only way, my preferred option in any event.
