Swanage Piers

By crookymonsta
Another re-work of the piers at Swanage. I have probably over-cooked it this time but still experimenting with B&W and learning all the time.

Many thanks for all kind C&Cs on Under my Umbrella, another re-work, particularly to Dave (WhiteRose1) for his User Award and a very welcome and surprising Guest Editor award too.

As always, your advice is much appreciated.

I like the high key mono conversion and also the composition with the existing/former piers balancing the image. GrinGrin

I like the strength of your blacks and whites, Sandra. The white of the water works well and everything seems to stand out better against it.
The grey water in your last upload was more subtle, but the lamps were getting a little lost against the grey. This one is far more dramatic, and the lamps are well defined.
The only thing I noticed was that the detail of the pavillion has got a bit lost. From your original colour version, I know it's white with a blue roof. Its detail was getting a bit lost in the greyer version, and although its roof and top part is well defined in this version, the lower white area has lost definition.
So, I don't think you've pushed it too far, except for the pavillion (hope that's what you call it).
