JEWISH GRAVESTONES

By CrownJoolz
A wall made from gravestones in the Remu'h Shul cemetery- in Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter of Krakow established in 1495. It was badly damaged during WWII when the Nazis used it to store firefighting equipment and as a rubbish site, smashing most of the gravestones in the process. After the war, the cemetery was restored and pieces of broken headstones which could not be matched were used to make a memorial cemetery wall in the form of a mosaic. This is also known as the Lamentation Wall.

Nice set of images, I think image 1 might look even better with a crop at the top and bottom to leave jsut the wall. But only a small thing. Andy

I also would love to see close-ups of part of this wall. It's such a wonderful thing to see - that they made a memorial wall this beautiful from the remnants of markers.

That's some kind of jigsaw puzzle! An interesting piece, and made all the better with the gentle shadows of the trees. Fascinating...
