Composition and background work really well. If I was being really really picky I'd say clean the background up a little, but as birds on sticks go, this is one of my favourites - Chaffinches rarely cause trouble in the garden Smile

Thanks for the GEA Kathy. Not sure what you mean by clean the background up a little unless there are dust bunnies (I can see a couple). The colouring is trees which are partially covered in snow. Hence the white and burgundy colouring.

These were processed originally just to show someone, so I did not bother with the little DBs. They are pesky blighters and a constant reminder that I need some new swabs. In fact off to WE now.

Thanks ant.

super detail and beautiful colour, personal tastes I suppose but I think the background is fine

Beautiful shot, Cheryl.

Great complementary background and I like the way the head is placed against the white area. The composition works well I think and I like the use of the negative space for the bird to look into.

It was the dust bunnies I was referring to Cheryl Wink - I think the bg colour is what makes this special because it goes so well with the colours of the bird, wouldn't be the same on green.

OK no problem, just when I showed someone else this they thought the white was sky and not snow and suggested I shoot from a higher position Wink

Thanks all. I like to shoot with negative space from time to time, but I know not everyone appreciates it.

Good to see a Chaffy.
I nailed my first female (Chaffinch)Smile this morning at the woods.

Terrific detail Cheryl and a pleasure to see a healthy Chaffy without bumblefoot
