I'm getting into these fg's with water Cheryl. They work well and give the image that discreet appearance especially here. It gives the impression of a good stalk to the bird and wild capture
Great image

Beautiful shot. The limited dof really makes the bird stand out.

The foreground and dof used is what makes a picture like this more interesting and makes it stand out from the crowd. As usual you focus and metering is spot on.

Yes to marmite and yes to "mushy foregrounds" - they concentrate the attention in exactly the right place!

The detail in the Merlin on large is great, that for me makes the image and the mushy foreground does not detract from that.

Thanks everyone.

Think this (or a variation) will form part of the first exhibition. Loaned a couple of canvasses to a local garden centre to decorate their cafe and they have had interest in buying them from customers, so I need to get my act together pretty quick. So some business plans to be drawn up this weekend.

Congratulations, such fine photography, one really lovely image, to my eye more deserving of a HC than your previous image, may I wish you every success with your first exhibition.

I also prefer this to the GSW David.

Have lots more mush shots, so will post some others later.

Thanks all.
