Red Kite

By csurry
Red Kite Milvus milvus

Taken at today's mini-meet at the National Bird of Prey Centre, Newent.

Good to meet Miles at last today, though it felt like we'd been friends for ages with the jokes we have shared on here and by email.

Took loads of shots of the red kite, mostly against the blue sky, but I thought the few I captured against the dark foliage seemed to work really well.

I realise it won't be as strong a thumbnail without the blue sky, but let's see what happens.

Thanks for all the recent comments, gonna be a bit busy again for the next few weeks, so more anonymous clicking for me I'm afraid. Should get some time tomorrow to have a good look through what I've missed recently. If I can get my new website finished.

Erm, thanks everyone. On the EC front that one was totally unexpected, hadn't even left the bag of tenners behind the phone box. So thanks Pete. It wasn't my fiver so I think someone else is owed an EC Wink)

As I said I just liked it because I'd managed to get one sharp and not against the blue sky. The light was a bonus, but obviously beyond my control.

So thanks.

OK, not going to be around for a few days probably this week, but will try and post some flowers or something different when I'm back. Although I am off to another BofP centre next weekend as a bit of a Wildshots reunion.

So off to find some flowers to shoot.

Beautifully caught, I saw a pair of these when I was walking in the hills around here last weekend, tumbling about like a pair of fighting crows they were, it wasn't until they were very close to me that I realised what I was seeing! Gone all too quickly before I got a good shot but it was a real privelage to see them.
Congrats on the EC Smile

Thanks everyone. I really liked this one, though it has proved to be a pig to print, think some recalibration is required when I get home.

Didn't think it would do too well due to the boring thumbnail, but most comments were before it was an EC, so it did hold its own.

And Pete still thinks I'm a flower photographer Wink)

Cheryl - been looking around here today and saw this. Should have guessed was you. Strange thing is I was only looking up Newent on the map yesterday and thinking of going. Great to find you.
