I flinch when I pick some EC's these days, especially ones where I'm going to be accused of favouritism, bribes or subject bias. But I won't be dragged down... lol.

I don't favour Cheryl...she hasn't paid me anything... and I'm not totally fussed about birds of prey. But this is super sharp, perfectly exposed, well framed and all round top photography. Well done.

Er, wow. Very surprised at this one Pete. I have lots of really good shots of this bird in different poses, but personally I chose this one because the bird just looked so comfortable.

I guess that probably sounds strange, but of all the images I just liked the way it looked. It was pleasing to me and I hoped others would like it, but really only expected a few to do so.

Still in shock

Thanks for all the comments.

Many congrats on your EC, Cheryl - richly deserved. I don't believe it's possible to extract more detail from an image as you have done from this one. Sublime.

Thanks guys (after my last comment, they all are). Still shocked at this one. Thought it would be as popular as the not for vegetarians series. Of which there are more ;-(

Conrad, I have no money at the moment, I think Pete felt sorry for me.

Thanks Ade, Ian, Dave, Patrick and Su.

Stunning shot Cheryl... love it from all aspects. was this hand-held, tripod? QWhat aperture?

csurry 15 9.2k 92
28 Oct 2005 6:14AM
That's a good question.

1/180th @ f/7.1, but as to the tripod, no naughty me just a monopod.
leeg 13 165
28 Oct 2005 6:32AM
Well that's good skills to get this as sharp as it is with a monopod and such a slow shutter speed. Thanks. well done again.
csurry 15 9.2k 92
29 Oct 2005 2:37AM
It was only cos I didn't have the right plate for the 300mm which I was intending to use most that weekend (but didn't). So I was lazy and just took the monopod.

Actually for these sorts of sessions I find a monopod easier - gives me more flexibility to move around the bird and other photographers.
