Like both Richard and John I think the pose is great, and the colours on the dress stand out well. My only niggle is the basket, personally I think it either should be fully in or left out of the shot.
Still a great shot though.

Another in your alternative postcard series i guess and this one is my favourite from the few I've seen, I agree with Colin re the basket
though.

I was waiting for a comment on the basket .. Smile .. but it's essential to both context and balance for me (it completes and forms part of a couple of triangles in the comp) .. ... not an alternative postcard series shot Sam (way too sensible for that!) .. just a straight candy girl style shot.

Not as bad without the basket as I first imagined but it still offers more with it left in for me personally. Comments welcome Smile

PS There are some shots from this series including it fully in shot ...

There's something light and breeezy about this that fits your concept, and for me the hamper is essential to the whole, making it less of a fashion shoot and more 'lifestyle'. The parasol's also a lovely touch. Congrats on the EC.

Sunny, funny, full of character and so excellently thought and taken - brilliant. And I definitely prefer version with the basket. Smile
A well deserved EC, congratulations.

There's more to this photography lark than meets the eye. Had I taken this shot I'd have removed the basket without a second thought, but comparing V1 and V2 it's so obviously a better shot for it's inclusion. As you say, the basket forms the apex of a large triangle with the girl at the base. It also creates a triangle in the sand between it and the brolly.

It's a deceptively simple shot that looks so good. Proper photography I would say.

Well done Dan , lovely shot . I prefer it with the basket, it tells more of the story.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yeah the basket had to stay Smile Glad I put the V2 up though .. (in all fairness it still stands up as a good shot without the basket but still pref v1 by far)
