i like it this way , why modify? 
I am grateful for all your generous comments and suggestions. Paul's manipulation was flattering but I too feel that the atmosphere created by the way that the rays 'paint' this scene is best appreciated in colour. (regret inadvertently slipping this into the wrong category - can the admin team change it for me?)
