Play-Time Postponed ...

By sut68
On the way over to the Pitlochry meet Thursday afternoon/evening, Rich and myself made a detour to Killin, where we bumped into a forgetful Looboss Wink

Next stop was Loch Tay, particularly the shores at Kenmore. After getting some early jetty shots, I'd spotted the colour developing down the valley at the far end of the Loch ... on went the 70-200mm and 2 stops of ND grad. The warmth of the colours belies the coldness of the air at this point!

Feeling more than a little jaded tonight, so an early night is in order ... will catch up when I can though ... thanks for popping by.

Paul

Superbly held exposure, Paul.
Looks like you have managed to keep the full range from 0 to 255, with a cracking composition and tack-sharp focussing and really sublime colour control!

A masterclass, I'd say!

Cheers

Thanks Lynne, Jouko and Rob. We managed to find a little more colour throughout the weekend Rob, but this was the most intense we found.

I wondered when this one would make an appearance, what a stunner and probably the best sunset of the whole trip. Shame I was somewhere between Carlisle and Pitlochry at the time.

Looks like somewhere much more exotic than Scotland, great colours. What is the darker shading top right, is it a mountain disappearing into the mist?

Ian

A scorcher, Paul. I did wonder about that dark shade up top right, and wondered if it might be the shadow of the mountain cast by the setting sun. I reckon Fran should feature this in her Franthena 2010 Posters catalogue. Smile

As Ian [Flindt] says Ian, it's a shadow of the mountain cast from the setting sun.

Another excellent shot Paul. Incredibly sharp (maybe a bit too much on the horizon / mountain particularly in the centre (which is strange as its normally on the frame edge). Only picked the last couple of points up tho after looking at it at some length in the large version.

Cheers Nick, thanks for your comment.

Do you mean the left mountain and those tree tops? If so then from what I can see on the original they are the pine tree tops being backlit by the intense sun behind them and it gets lesser the further up to the left they go. If you mean somewhere else though, my apologies.

Whoops I was editing my original post and it doesn't read right. What I meant by the tree line should have said CA on the trees - but as you say you will get it from the backlit sun, sorry if it caused some confusion.

Certainly is Gaz, but the colour doesn't represent how cool the evening actually was.
