Spiral Staircase

By fentiger
Taken at the British Library in London using part of the architecture to frame the repeating shapes of a spiral staircase. An ISO of 1600 was used because of the low light conditions. Possibly the keyline used for framing is too intrusive.

This is superb! Love the comp, shapes and colours. Reminds me of some kind of Oriental caligraphy! Oh and I think the line makes for a perfect balance with the matching colour within the image.

Excellent. Great shapes and lines. The keyline's fine and the perfect colour too. I've never been to the library - an oversight on my part. On my Visit List from now on.

Great framing, like looking through a porthole on a boat. I think I would have left out the outer orange thin frame like you mentioned............Sandy

Don't think the framing is intrusive at all Albert.
Had it been thicker it might have been !!

Many thanks for all your comments. Thank you also for the mod, I did look at a mono conversion but personally felt that it was better in colour.

Hi Albert,

The orange line is a bit intrusive and the image isn't placed centrally within it.
It's also placed very close, too close for me, to the edge of the image and it's never a good idea to use a frame that mimics the prevailing colour within the image.
Or to put it another way, personally, I'd get rid of it!

Hope this helps.

I don't have an opinion on the frame, Albert. I think you have cleverly produced a very interesting image here. What would put the icing on the cake for me would be someone walking on the stairs.

I like this Albert, and I think your instinct with the stroke line is right. It should either go, or be a colour thats not a dominant colour from inside the frame. I think that I just repeated what Bren said, - never mind!
