Robin Fly!

Robin Fly!Hi John
Great attempt, but like you said not easy what you need to freeze these chaps is a shutter speed of 8000 -sec thatswhat i have found out over the years. but your never get that speed with such a dark background so i sugest you get a light backgound in direct sunlight with the bird in sunlight as well and you should be able to get 8000 on f5.6 on iso 400 and under expose by a stop. try it.

Another kingfisher

Another kingfisherHi Steve another great shot of a kingfisher, however I cant help thinking they are a tad over sharpened, I hope you dont take this the wrong way but it would help the quality of the image im shaw.
Still gets my vote.

Coal Tit Trio

Coal Tit TrioGreat shot terry, not easy is it what i find is that to stop the wings completely you need a shutter speed of 8000 of a sec so i crank the iso upto 1600 and then under expose by 2 stops. try it .
