Is a hoverfly and a damselfliy one and the same in your location? In the southwestern U.S. where I live we call them a dragonfly. Fine close up image. Well done.

Hi, thanks for you comment. I'm located in the UK, Derbyshire to be more precise. The Hoverfly and Damselfly are very different things here. As you say the Dameselfly is similar to a dragonfly with a Hoverfly being (loosely) similar to a bee.

I'm hoping to build a wildlife pond in the garden this Autumn so fingers crossed I may well get some dragonflies and Damselfly in the garden......
