Falls of Desolation

By damianlinley
A waterfall at the Valley of Desolation, near Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire. I went there with only about an hour to spare today, so concentrated all my time at this particular place. MUST go back, lots more to get with more time. Also, took my 8 year old on his first photo outing, he loved it and got some good ones himself. Click here

Well worth it all round,

comments, more importantly critique, greatly appreciated
Thanks
Damian

A cracking composition, exposure is spot on,

Perhaps a wee bit more sharping would have helped?.

Looking again Andy, you're probably right. These fancy flat monitors are no help to photos at all!!! Time to invest in some quality I think!
thanks everyone for your kind comments so far..

Very nice image. I've seen a few outstanding shots of these falls recentley. I must visit myself, but as its a 3+ hour drive, I'll call in and visit my sister near Skipton and stay over night.

Nicely taken.

Well exposed water in frame, perfect composition with the big stone in foreground. Well done.

Jonc, possibly yes, i never know when to stop with the saturation though so i get a bit afraid of messing with it!

Thanks for all the great comments so far

Loads more water than when I went Damian. really does shine out perfectly. Think we got luckier with the light on the left bank, but you managed ton get more detail on the right as a result of the better balance.

Will keep an eye out for a frosty day and all head on back up there - up for it?

Lordy Lordy,

What a corker of a shot! Picture book, to coin a cliche!

But no cliche in this piccy, it offers a new perspective on a much tried, often attempted but rarely mastered such as this, subject.

Am so glad to see you are still here and still producing such cracking work. Despite bleary eyes and soreness of the old peepers, I can see that the work has continued to grow and really blossom, as it was doing in February when I was last able to see properly!

What a great catalogue of work you have since built up, what a testament to your skill and ever-inventiveness behind the camera.

I am looking forward to catching up on your portfolio [and Catherine's, too] as I am in much need of a tonic for the old eyes.

Hope life is treating you well, and that you and yours, Catherine and babes are ll hearty and healthy.

Speak soon,

Mike

Superb shot, but lacks a bit of sharpness on the rocks I feel.
