The View From Scarsdale Hall

By danieltrude
The imposing shell of a grandiose Georgian mansion built in 1724-29, with an immensely columned exterior. Roofless since 1919, when its interiors were dismantled and some exported to America.

It's a grand place indeed with a very commanding view. I grew up in Chesterfield and have visited the hall several times. I would've loved to have seen it when it was in full splendour instead of the shell it is now.

Not many people notice it as you drive down the M1 where in a short space you can see Bolsover Castle, Scarsdale, then Hardwick Hall.
