Ants and Shadows

Lockdown has given more opportunity to rediscover older images, and this one suits Saturday Shadows.
Leaf cutter ants on the west coast of Costa Rica.

Taken using an unusual combination of a Canon 24-85 lens (the subject of a future blog) with an extension tube, and lit with off-camera flash (in the days when you had to visualise what you'd get). Canon EOS 3, Fujichrome Provia 400. 12 November 2001

That is not an easy shoot! The guys work 24 hours a day until they drop. I still haven't got a decent shot of them. Other ants, yes but not the leaf cutters. You have inspired me for tomorrow's post.

Beasts of burden, but a wonderful shot catching these tireless workers, carrying their loads and casting shadows. It was a lot harder in those days producing images, without the modern gadgetry!
