Spent a couple more hours getting the hang of the Splashart kit. Things are coming along nicely.

...... I've started to add food colouring to the water container and the drop reservoir, an image of which is in my gallery.

I took delivery of a quantity of Guar Gum which is a food thickener, the idea being to thicken water drops to achieve a different type of collision between two drops. I've no idea of what quantity to add to water to get the best result. It's going to be trial and error by the looks of things. Will have to start with a weak mixture and progress from there to get the best result. If I make it too thick it'll clog up the works! .... I've plenty of time to get it right. The only other obstacle is the lighting, I've only one working flash so I may have to invest in another one or two units. It'll have to be the cheap ones of course

Thanks for the link Alison. I've seen her name mentioned a few times during browsing the web. She's got some fantastic work on show. I've mixed my first batch of Guar gum and water. I'll be playing with the drops later today and publish the results in my blog tonight....... here goes.

I bought her guide a while back and it's very good. I've got a pack of Xanthan Gum - one day I'll have time to mix some up and try it out! Who knows maybe Sunday...... Smile
