nice work, this is well lit. how do you get such a random person to pose? just hit them up in the street?

Sam, the answer to your question. Yes sometimes I do somethings chat people up in the strret for a photo. In this case I was once a diesel engine fitter and would fix the engine on his boat and the winch that pulls his boat up the beach. We became friends (and still are) so it was really easy for me to get this shot. Geat face don't you think.

A lot of my male relatives enjoyed life at sea - my grandfather would stay away as long as three years at a time - come home for a few months and go back out to sea. That was a looooong time ago though.
Love this portrait and the wonderful eye contact.
