And the time was when these buildings were shipping and customs offices for the port of Hartlepool.
Now converted to flats but still impressive buildings,

The first building was originally called The Ships Tavern and was reputed to have the longest bar in the world in approx. 1830? Straight opposite this site was the original first railway station in West Hartlepool (now long gone)
The second building was also used as the Transport Police Dock Office in the 1950ís
Building also used as British Custom House.
