This is a portfolio that I have enjoyed looking through. Both thought provoking and bringing back memories of my times in Tanzania and Zanzibar.

I can only dream to take photographs of this quality and artistic perception. As a missionary I get to to travel the world a lot. I hope to capture the culture and beauty of people groups as you have.

Excellent portfolio and an inspiration to me. To me photography is 90% perception and 10% technicality, you have a gift!

Thanks

Your work is exceptional. I have seen many photos on the net and off the net, and don't remember being quite as inspired regarding this great art of photography as when I came across your portfolio. I think that for novices like myself it is vital to see what kinds of possiblities exist in the future, and thanks to you, I can get excited about what is yet to come.
Your photos evoke a still reminder of the beautiful thing we know as humanity. You capture it perfectly in all its facets, which in turn allows me to re-contmplate a gamut of emotions toward my fellow man (and woman).
Thanks very much for your work. I hope you will keep it up for a long time to come. Thanks also for lighting the way for a newcomer, myself, along this wonderous path of photography.
Regards
Andrew

Dear David, I have admired your portfolio for some time and commented on your photos from time to time. The photo's from Africa and Rome are my favorites. I am an irregular guest here, have now returned after a couple of months 'off'; bit of a love-hate relationship with the site. Your photos are deeply humane and moving, and you are such great friends with the light that the best color photography needs, and such an excellent observer, that I felt honoured by your kind words on some of my photos. I saw that you have books too, I'll be sure to check them out. As a professional social philosopher I have this dream about combining my philosopy with my photography. The last is not yet good enough though, I only started taking I seriously a year ago. Well, I'll keep in touch with your work. Best regards, Bert

Enthralled by your portfolio and web site! Such richness of expertise and innate talent bringing out the majesty of the everyday that its difficult to tear oneself away from getting lost in each image. I've spent the last hour browsing through both and am now late for work (luckily, I'm the boss!). Consider this a hugh 'click' for each and every one.

I couldn't sleep this morning, got up very early while it was still dark and followed your comment on my last post to your pf. The light is now bright, the sky no longer tinged pink and I'm still not done with it.
It's staggeringly good. Is patience and waiting your key, knowing your neighbourhood and its habits?
I think it's time for a re-evaluation.

As I've remarked before, what you don't know about the effective use of light and shadows isn't worth knowing ... and you combine this talent with a wonderful eye for a captivating subject which by most would simply go unnoticed. And many thanks for your ongoing encouragement, David - I'm very grateful.

Respect.

You've truly mastered the art of finding the most impossible lighting situations and then producing cleverly exposed, and amazingly detailed and insightful glimpses into people's lives as they wander across your backgrounds around the world. I always enjoy your images David and often return several times to each one for another look (might explain your high view to click ratio!). Thank you too for the support and encouragement you've given me over the last year or so - it's always appreciated.

I can probably go as far, David, as to say that of all the many photographers on ePz you are the one whose work, on the bottom line, I most admire. You seem to have a knack of seeing below the surface of life and people, and portraying what lies beneath - a rare skill indeed. I am astonished how little your work seems to be appreciated.

Can't believe I'm the first to say how much I enjoy your work and what a pleasure it is to look through your portfolio. A talented photographer who isn't afraid to sacrifice popularity (at least on EPZ) for the sake of pursuing the sorts of shots you enjoy taking. Another on my 'favourites' list.
