Andy Hill

By david j. green
This was taken at Rougham Airshow in 2011 and today I discovered that the pilot is Andy Hill who was involved in the Shoreham Airshow crash on Saturday.

I have mixed feelings about posting this shot given what happened at Shoreham.

This is not one of my best shots so had not uploaded before but it now seems very poignant.

Comments and feedback welcome.

I've read about the accident happened near Shoreham. As far the things have been going, accidents happen at such manifestations. There is always some risk both for pilots and audience/spectators as well. As there is always a chance that machine won't obey the pilot's commands. No matter what the age of the pilot or what type&age of the machine. Things may go wrong with the Hawker Hunter or the newest EU Typhoon jet.

I'm deeply sorry for the pilot having now such a heavy burden and equally for the other casualties at the nearby motorway.

It's a fair shot. I'm sure quite a few of us on the sit who've taken shots of the RV8tors at airshows have got one of Andy flying.
Let's remember him for what he enjoyed doing well and entertaining the crowds.

I understand from today's news reports that Mr Hill survived the crash but is in a critical condition. Let us hope he recovers and can throw some light on what caused that tragic accident.
