Top 10 Features on ePHOTOzine that you didn't know existed.

Let's face it, ePHOTOzine is massive! It's so easy to get lost with all the different sections and features on the site. We have tried to make ePHOTOzine THE online source for everything photography related. With so many features some great features get overlooked. So here is my Top 10 list of features that you maybe didn't know existed.

1. PhotoMap Gallery

Located in the Photos menu

The Photomap gallery allows users to specify where a picture was taken on a world map. This is great as then you can get a better idea of great photo spots and perhaps see photos that were taken around where you live. Its really fun to have a browse around London or your hometown. It's easy to add your photos to the PhotoMap gallery, just click on the ' Geotag my Photos ' link in your portfolio.

2. Photo Locations

Located in the Reviews menu

One of the older sections of the site which is very similar to the PhotoMap Gallery, except this is more of a way to get information about good places to take photos. It could be really useful if you are planning a trip (or wanting to) and want to know where are some good places to take photos in the area. You can even add new photo locations that we may not have.

3. Exhibitions

Located in the Directories menu

Fancy browsing a photo exhibition? We have a list of current and upcoming photography exhibitions around the world.

4. Challenges

Located in the Photos menu

A highly addictive part of the site that has been around for years. The idea is that a challenge is created with a theme (ie: B&W abstract still life) and then users upload photos within that theme. Users of the site then can vote 1-10 on all the entries and eventually the best photo in that theme will rise to the top. There is also a chance to win some prizes.

5. Pro Photography Tips

Located in the Techniques menu

A rather new feature on the site. We have asked some of the most well-known pro photographers to provide us with some photography tips. The tips range from taking a good photo to managing your expenses. You can learn some really useful stuff.

6. Downloads

Located in the ePHOTOzine menu

Download everything from Photoshop brushes to camera raw files. Some really great stuff there and any user can upload more.

7. Members' Exhibitions

Located in the Members menu

We allow our e2 members to create online exhibitions here on ePHOTOzine complete with slideshow, gallery, comments and much more. You can even work together with other members to put together a truly amazing online exhibition. These exhibitions are free to view to anyone on the site.

8. Members' Meetings

Located in the Members menu

It's simple, get together with other ePHOTOzine members and have a blast taking photos and chatting about photography. Its a great way to get to know other people on the site and learn more.

9. Book Reviews

Located in the Reviews menu

We get loads of books in for review here at ePHOTOzine. The editorial team go through every book and put them online so you can get an idea of what are some of the best photography books available.

10. Glossary

Located in Techniques menu

Another old part of the site that can help you understand the terminology associated with photography. This is a quick way to

What a great idea David...I was looking yesterday at the "Best of Gallery" and wondered if many use that? It really shows up some good work and can be viewed by week, right back to the early years.
Just another idea that's rarely seen on other sites.

No, nothing new here. Wink

But the fact that I know about those features, doesn't mean I've used all of them. Must investigate the Members' Exhibitions feature more thoroughly some time, for instance.

Nothing new here either....although I think you could maybe add sycophancy or obsequiousness to the glossary? One can always learn.

But then I'd also have to add "malice", "negativity", "cynicism", etc., Boyd, and I refuse to do that. Not only for the obvious reason, because it's a photography glossary, but also because I'm a "the glass is half full" kind of person - more than the opposite. Clearly you and a few others don't get that, and explain my agreement with Pete, staff and teams as in your suggestions above.

Strange, really - some people seem to think it's normal to be negative, combative, etc., and don't understand people who aren't like that, and are therefore eager to find a negative explanation for it.

Sad, Boyd. Very sad.
