The Bronze Age

By DavidCookson
Marry's Shell about ten minutes before sunset. Not the shot I intended, as I was positioned to the left of the shell facing the intended sunset, but it just wasn't happening. No interesting cloud at all, just a blanket of grey, then suddenly a slit of a gap appeared and the sun appeared. But as you well know it was total burn out, I tried to compensate by adding a three and two stop grads to my already ten stop which was on to take the ripples out of the water. While the exposure was taking place I walked round to see the shell lit up as if it was on fire. I quickly set up on this and managed three different exposures by removing the three then the two before the sun vanished.
This is the first one and although underexposed I love the colorcast it has produced.

It really is a fascinating sculpture, and we seem to be able to represent it in so many different ways and moods. This is lovely.
