Sea, Sand & Snow

By DavidLangan
Commended in LPOTY 09

I arrived on the beach in overcast conditions. The sun started to rise subtely colouring the clouds. I waded in to the intertidal zone and jammed tripod deep into the sand. I then waited for an incoming wave to make my exposure. After a few tries I managed to time it right and got the wave exactly where I wanted it.

Lovely Image, like the movement in the tide, the soft colours and the contrasting elements. Great job.

It's simple, but certinally effective. You have captured a lovely dark mood with the dark sky and long exposure

What a great first upload - you've certainly set the bar high for the future! The movement, as well as the alternating light/dark sections make for a very effective image.
