Basking Chinook

By daviewat
The poor sick Chinook sits alone but basking in the setting sun at Leuchars a couple of weeks ago.

The display it was scheduled to do had to be cancelled due to her going US (unservicable)

I got this shot from the car window during the sadly chaotic exit from the base, it made national papers and news headlines.(The traffic choas,, not the photo Smile

It was due to the company organizing the parking and traffic flow not really knowing the layout well, hundreds of cars ended up going right round the airfield !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

personaly I loved it as it took me past the area I used to operate a Wessex from Smile with 22b Sqdn many moons ago, so a wonderful trip down nostalgic lane for me.

Next year they reckon the rock apes will take the traffic management on Smile

Great lighting on this ............... shows how long you were there.

Rock Apes = nasty name for some section of the RAF I would assume

Thanks everyone , mucho apprecited Smile
That company has sprung up from nowhere and has been handed far too much power over people. They operate a fascist regime in my experience.
Not the RAF btw. glad you had a good time at the show, and as aleways something good comes out of chaos. Just look at British Politics over the last several decades.

My son used these last year to transport himself to Camp Bastion from Kanadha. They called them Woka's. The Wessex was called a Jungly.
