German Wasp and Mites

This image was taken, teasing the wasp with honey placed on a Clematis petal. I desaturated the honey because it was clashing with the colour of the wasp. The mites in the picture were a bit of a bonus.

It is indeed a lovely shot. Now, how are we to properly determine this wasp is German? Does it, for instance, have Luftwaffe markings on its wings? Is its name, Manfred von Richthofen, by chance? And is there truly a sting in its tail? I think we ought to be told. SmileGrinWink

By luck I had taken two images. The first image the antennae was loosing detail at the ends. The second image had very sharp antennae. You can guess the rest.Smile
