Eye spy

By Debbiee
Something a little different from me, I really wan't to do something differen't with my portraits although I am really struggling to come up with ideas, I think I'm getting a little bored with taking straight forward portrait shots. Anyway in this image I used a little technique I learnt when doing a short animation course, I basically desaturated the image and then using layers set to soft light coloured it back in and took the opacity down to what I thought was an acceptable level.

Yes a super technique, the face hair and hat look great but the hand is much too dominante, I think a longer lens would have solved this a 125mm rather than the 55mm used, certainly a technique you should explore further.

Very eye catching image.........sorry Wink Love the treatment to create this unique image. I can see what Grampy is saying about the hand (and he may be right) but for me that is what drew me to the image in the first place. I think it is great !!!

I think Phill has just proved my point, the hand attracts the attention and not the eye Wink

This is a fine effort. Something diifferent without being silly. I think the eye could have been even brighter, maybe a touch with the dodge tool. Skin tone - obviously not criticise that against 'normal', but wonder if that might be just a touch lighter tool. I'm not bothered about the hand here, it leads in perfectly well.
