rather like it subject and execution,
its a bit like European salon photography but the crop is perhaps a little tighter than im used to seeing and the subject is compressed up close to the front,
i can see that you have added impact with the strong saturation and yet for me, its this very action that is killing the creative potential of this stong shot and i would have liked to see a darker side to the image as the current processing is over lit and takes away any story or mental imagery leaving me a little puzzled as to the concept or final intent of what the image is saying.
possibly more space and desaturation or overbledning with mono would have added a sense of mystery.
hope that little ramble makes a little sense.
great starting point though

The process doesn't work for me I'm afraid - sorry to be negative. A little texture could have aded interest but its so deep that she looks very much cut out and stuck on - which is a shame because I'd say your composition looks really nice. A more subtle process of the model as in arhb's mod would help, but i think the texture still needs dialling back a bit.
Hope that doesn't sound too cruel - it's all personal taste of course!

Looked at your whole portfolio, I have to say I like your style and execution (love butterfly book and imagination book), I have to agree with Mark though, does look a little cut out, background is great and atmospheric, the model too bright for me, but nothing that can't be fixed in processing, as I say though I think your portfolio is interesting and shows a very raw stylistic/fashion edge. Hope this was OK, feel free to look at my portfolio and critique your heart away it is how we learn and improve

I am new to this and a returning photographer from pre-digital.
It is images such as this and the comments it has generated that are reviving my interest.
I found the shot very interesting, the comments are excellent and very helpful in generating critical skills that can be applied to my own attempts.
I think the background has been flattened by adding the texture, however I believe that is what made the image stand out for me.
Sorry not strictly a critique.
