Sailing Boats

By debster
Another one taken Sunday at Poole Quay, just a few minutes later and JUST before the heavens opened. I took shelter under an upturned boat on the shore!

A couple of people mentioned trying a panoramic crop so I've uploaded one in the mod section - I think I personally still prefer the full version as you don't lose the drama in the sky or the water but this is just a matter of personal choice.

Over to you - thanks for looking.

Debbie

I like this full version better. I can see more of the sky and water, which have plenty of details that are lost in the panoramic version. I guess you could take three shots at this zoom range and stitch them together for a panoramic which would include the sky. I hope things are going well for you now!

This has lots of impact and the colours are nice too, di you add the vignette yourself or was that how the clouds were?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

Chris, I was just lucky enough to have that beautiful light with me on Sunday - this is pretty much as was taken, other than a slight touch of the curves and USM for upload.

Prefer this one of the two, I like the curve in the cloud forming a frame...

Have an RC

Don't let the lower vote count fool you. Often, people will bypass a similar shot if they voted already. I've had several shots where I would put up a second version and everybody would say they liked the second one better than the first, yet the second got fewer votes!

I think this has a stronger comp. than the last one, though I'm not necessarily talking about the almost vignetted effect of the gathering storm clouds - the boats are spaced out nicer as well. A very moody image
