Magheroarty Beach, Donegal

By Declanworld
My friend and comrade, Terence 'Big O' O'Donnell as lone sentinel on Magheroarty Beach in Donegal. However, the main attraction was the cloud and its relationship with the Atlantic's waves. The beach is one of the many world-class beaches in Donegal - we had a mile and a half long stretch to ourselves. For the other mile and a half, turn left at the horizon.

A world-class beach indeed, and a b**y long walk Smile . I love this and especially the interplay with the surf and the cloud. Could I suggest you try a squarer crop, to just abobe the main cloud top left and below the line of surf bottom right - I think it would really enhance the strong diagonal. Just a thought, nice one anyway

Stephen, you're completely right about the crop - thanks. I got myself so hung-up about the rule of thirds that, in spite of knowing better, the main cloud should've started at the top corner. Not having cropped at the surf is slightly less of a gaffe but a gaffe nonetheless.

I think, from now on, the rule of thirds will be used in an advisory capacity rather than a presidential one.
