Chaffy

By Dee_licious1
Taken yesterday at Draycotte Water (Reservoir). Hopefully going back again today, saw lots where we sit - Woodpecker, kestral (hiding behind twigs so not worthy of upload), sparowhawk swooping in for a kill, loads of tits (great, blue and long tailed) as well as the usual water birds and I think a wren hoping over/under around the bolders!) and how can I forget the wagtail! Anyway, was a morning of experimenting with the camera and this is my favourite of the morning.

Morning Mike Smile

actually this is a fairly big crop. Was probably 7ft away at the time (Chris in the front of the car and me in the backseat!), well he was using the 200mm lens and I have a cracking 300mm lens - thought it would even us out a bit! ha ha ha

We are very very lucky at Draycotte - if we can get in with the car before the man on the gate arrives. We just park at one of parking bays and sit and wait - the birds are used to people so come rather close, sometimes too close. Smile

I looked at the large version, & it looks as if he's sitting on my PC.

Thank you everyone, a wonderful response from you all.

Went playing again today, first thing we saw when we got there was a kestral, which flew out of the tree then hovered very close to us. No shot from me, had the converter on and forgot to change my settings accordingly. In fact, a great day to watch and take pics but nothing worth keeping :-( Oh well, sh*t happens. There's always next time!

Another cracker Dawn, he looks like he's been digging in the soil with his beak.

Some lovely detail here Dee, looks like he's been foraging around by the look of his beak, well done,
Geoff.
