Quote:What a cracking shot. My only niggle is the grass up the trunk which spoils it a bit for me. Having said that its still a really good image with good contrast and tones. Did you continue shooting when it backed off, as I would like to see other images. Around the edges of the ears look a little dark, is this due to you darking out the background.? Richard
Quote:This is such a stunning portrait and such a shame about that grass obscuring the trunk.I still love it though.
Quote:A great shot. Like others have said, a shame about the grass on the trunk, but I guess in some shots like this, you don't have time for composition, or not safe to move to another position.

First off thanks for such a great response to this shot from many very accomplished photographers, some very kind words indeed.
A number of you, quoted here, have raised issue with the grass. I can definitely see what you are saying and really appreciate your input. I am new to this site and it is refreshing and very welcome to recieve CC. I could try removing the grass, but I kind of like the way its fragilty contrasts with the power of the elephant, the only thing stopping it from trampling me! I do have a few other shots in this series but this is my most popular image by far.
Quote:Very Nick Brandt, very nice.
Thats made my day! One of my favourite photographers.
Thanks for your comments and I will be sure to view portfolios ASAP. This seems like a great site.
Thanks
