The Water Rat

A shot of a water vole aka water rat of Wind in the Willows fame. He takes a pause from feeding on some pond weed to throw me a brief glance. Due to predation by mink I believe that this is one of, if not the rareest mammal in Britain. Taken in Surrey, UK in captivity.

Saw one in Wymondham in Norfolk last year. Unfortunately I couldn't get as good a picture as this.
