Welcome and an excellent introduction. Very rarely do we get an opportunity to catch this kind of action, usually all over before we get hold of the camera. A great start to photography.Grin

Wow - certainly an incredible moment. A nice shot, slightly soft but you could sharpen this with a touch of editing, colours are a bit muted, have you tried tweaking up the contrast a little to really bring out the details? Welcome to the site Derek, hope you end up enjoying it and learning from it as much as I do. - Jude

A great capture of nature at work.
11 Sep 2011 11:53AM
You jammy devil, have been waiting years for a shot like that, but nothing. Could enhance the colouring just a little, but otherwise a little cracker.

Its a great record of raw nature at its best, well done on getting the shot.
I wonder did you take the photo through glass, your window or patio door, because that would explain some of the reason there is a lack of contrast and colour to the image. None the less it is a superb capture with great detail, welcome to E.P.Z.................

Welcome to the site, I hope you enjoy the experience, and I'm sure you will. An excellent grab shot where the drama offsets the slight lack of sharpness.

Could have been a little sharper, but you don't have chance to fiddle about when you are presented with this oportunity.
It is rare to see such an action ... Great shot, although I feel very sorry for this starling ...

Thanks for your comment and vote on my upload Derek!
You have me confused! You put up such a wonderful capture as this, which many a wildlife photographer would be very happy to have in his portfolio, you get many positive responses, then you disappear for over a year! Hope you're back with us permanently this time, and looking forward to seeing what your shooting these days.

Remarkable image and great timing on your part. I spend a great amount of time making sure the local Sparrowhawk doesn't get to feature in images such as this but can only admire your ability in capturing this.

You have done so well to get this shot. Slightly soft on focus which I would say is almost certainly due to the excitement of the moment and thats something most of us would be prone to. Under the circumstances I would not dream of criticising.GrinGrinGrin
