I do wish you hadn't posted this. I too have a 5DM2, but my main general lens is the 24-105L. I've been thinking about getting the 17-40 to do shots like this, and now I'm probably going to have to take the plunge and risk the break-up of the beautiful relationship with my wife. Does that make you feel guilty? WinkWinkWink

Sorry... WOW! Great shot!

How close were you to the rail?

Wonderful perspective, Derek, and the ground seems to move just looking at it Tongue. A very productive morning down there.

Like the comp and detail. It almost looks like the Shard is growing wings! Wink

Awesome perspective! A top quality architecture shot , I really like the cloud at the top of the building ( I assume it's the 'Shard') rather jealous.
Well done!

Clever arrangement with the rail as FG interest, lead in line and forming a lovely shape as it curves into the middle of the frame, suiting the central placement of the shard. The cloud on the shard makes it look like it's blowing up!

Console your beloved with the fact thet the 17-40 F4L is one of the least expensive L series Lens Rob. Other than that you are on your own. GrinGrin

From memory the front of the lens was about 600mm from the rail.

A nicely composed shot with the rail making a great lead in, works well in mono too, very effective Derek.

There's so much here Derek - the curve of the railing is compelling somehow, the Shard with the cloud at the top and the mono treatment. Excellent stuff! Smile
